BIG WIN FOR LINFOX TRUGANINA WORKERS

November 27, 2017

Following months of tough negotiations and workplace consultations, your TWU national negotiating committee can announce that members working at Linfox Truganina now have a more secure future after several key issues were won by the Linfox National Negotiating team as management conceded at the last EBA meeting last week.

This includes a number of conversions – including 100 casual and agency workers to Linfox permanent.

The negotiating committee also settled a process for the development of the local Truganina agreement. This includes an enforceable undertaking by management, to be written into the national agreement, to discuss pick rates.

It is a big win for all workers at Linfox who had stood strong and, through solidarity, persistence and unity, maintained pressure on management and let them know Australian workers will not be pushed around.

The result is also perfect illustration as to why members need to stick together – because only together can we deliver a better future for workers.

These members have been wanting job security and better conditions for some time and it has been delivered. Once again this proves the power of being a member of the TWU – a union that sets wage and condition benchmarks for members that others strive to follow.

We are also very happy to have bucked the national trend of workers being moved onto insecure contracts by converting so many casual roles to permanent status.

The National Negotiations are far from concluded and meetings will be ongoing this week.
