Congratulations goes to TWU (Vic/Tas Branch) Secretary John Berger who was elected TWU National President at the annual TWU National Council today.
The Council, which was opened by current TWU National Secretary Michael Kaine (pictured), has gathered in Cairns with transport workers, union leaders and politicians to focus on pushing through major reform for the transport industry.
John also congratulated former National Secretary Tony Sheldon on his election to the Federal Senate last weekend and his 30-year TWU service award.
“Our union is indebted to Tony for his years of hard work which has made a material difference to the lives of thousands of workers across Australia. We will miss him but we know he will continue to serve the country’s working families through his work in the Senate,” John said.
The Council will also talk about the future of our union and the transport industry.
