MURRAY GOULBURN JOB LOSSES: TRANSPORT WORKERS UNION STATEMENT

October 11, 2017

The TWU (Vic/Tas Branch) is aware of a Murray Goulburn Co-operative Limited announcement that it intends to terminate up to 60 tanker operator roles.

The TWU, which represents a large percentage of Murray Goulburn tanker drivers, is awaiting official confirmation of this decision from the company, including finer details in regards to what specific driving positions will be removed, what support roles might be impacted and when these losses will occur.

TWU (Vic/Tas Branch) Secretary John Berger said the union will work with the company to secure the best possible outcome for not only those members directly affected by this decision but all members across the Murray Goulburn group.

“The TWU will ensure these workers, some of whom have been with the union and the company for decades, are cared for appropriately and receive the best possible outcome from a very bad situation,” Mr Berger said.

The TWU is unable to make further comment at this time.
