Qube Workers VOTE YES

August 1, 2017

Our TWU team said this agreement was worth voting for.

Members agreed – 80% voted YES to the new EBA!

Winning a new agreement that delivers on the issues we said matter was only possible because we stood together as a part of the TWU team led by your Delegates.

TWU members stuck together and pressured Qube for a better deal that delivers on the key issues you said matter for the new Agreement:

  • No loss to current terms and conditions.
  • 3% pay increase each year until expiry of current EBA in 2020 totalling 9% by the end of the agreement.
  • Backpay from the expiry of the current EBA. The backpay will be paid by the company when the Fair Work Commission approves the new EBA.
  • Rights for casual employees to apply for full time. Upon working on a regular and systematic basis for 9 months the company can’t unreasonably refuse your right to full time employment. Members will need to make the request in writing to Management.
  • Stronger rights for your workplace Delegates.
  • New consultative committee involving delegates and management to assist with workplace issues.
  • Upon proposed redundancy Qube shall call for expressions of interest from workers before making decisions.
  • Should the Company require an employee to undertake a medical examination during their employment, all medical costs not recoverable from a health fund will be reimbursed.
  • New income protection scheme subject to work group electing to opt into a scheme.
  • Members now having the option to salary sacrifice Superannuation. This will need to be done via written request by individuals.

But this new, much better EBA is just the beginning.

We know we must keep the pressure on Qube management – holding them accountable in every EBA, at every port.

That’s why we need to keep sticking together – and if you’re not a TWU member yet, we’ll ask you to join us. Because together we’re stronger and we can’t do it without you.
