Workplace fatalities shatter families. No worker should die on the job. And no one is above the law.

Unions have led the campaign for industrial manslaughter and we welcome Tasmanian Labor’s announcement that they will make workplace safety a top priority and legislate for industrial manslaughter in their first year of government.

Industrial manslaughter laws were introduced in Queensland last October.

At the end of January, the Victorian Trades Hall kicked off its own campaign for the introduction of Industrial Manslaughter laws in Victoria.

We join those wanting a safer Victoria in calling for legislation so negligent employers and senior managers can be charged with industrial manslaughter when a person is killed at work.
