Tippers Campaign Updates

The TWU has been working closely with the Tippers Owner Driver Committee over the last 12 months to fight against unsustainably low rates of pay in the industry. The latest updates and important information on progress will be available here.

UPDATE APRIL 15, 2015

The TWU needs a break down of the typical costs of running a Tipper for our upcoming fight in the Safe Rates Tribunal for a fairer rate for Mud Carters. You can help by downloading and filling in the document below with your actual costs. All your personal information will be removed if it forms apart of our claim. The TWU and Driver’s Committee put together an example of the real costs for owner drivers to present to plant hires in support of minimum rate demands. The plant hires responded with a different view about the costs you face and the money you should make.

The TWU, on behalf of the Driver’s Committee, has also made application to the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal (RSRT) to register a dispute with the plant hires regarding minimum rates.
