TWU REJECTS PUSH TO REMOVE SUPER FROM WORKERS

January 10, 2019

The TWU (Vic/Tas Branch) stands with the ACTU in rejecting a Productivity Commission proposal that superannuation be removed from the industrial relations system.

Acting Branch Secretary Chris Fennell said the TWU has a long and proud history of ensuring members receive above average superannuation payments and fighting against rogue employers underpaying the mandatory minimum.

“Superannuation is deferred wages and we will fight all the way any changes that would stop workers from having a say in the way their money is managed and placing a comfortable retirement in jeopardy,” Chris said.

“We must #ChangeTheRules to ensure Big Banks cannot be given access to workers’ nest-eggs, especially when many industry funds are currently out-performing funds run by the Big Banks.”
