WOMEN IN TRANSPORT

July 23, 2018

Thank you to all those who joined us for the highly-successful inaugural TWU (VIC/TAS Branch) Women in Transport dinner last Friday night.

It was great to see so many strong workplace leaders gathered together for a night to celebrate women throughout the transport industry and union movement.

Our female members are air pilots, flight attendants and caterers, they work in logistics, drive trucks and buses, are bike couriers, carry cash and prisoners and many other occupations.

It is a wonderful thing to see so many women break into professions in transport that would have been closed to them only a short number of years ago.

And the Branch is extremely proud that we are training an ever-growing number of female delegates and OH&S representatives.

The fight for gender equality in the workplace will not be easy, but the future is also bright.

Keynote speakers on the evening were RTBU State Secretary Luba Grigorovitch, former ACTU President and Federal House of Representatives MP Ged Kearney TWU Chief of Staff @Emily McMillan and Maurice Blackburn Lawyers Principal Liberty Sanger. Master of Ceremony was lawyer and broadcaster Corinne Grant.
