A true personal highlight for 2017 was attending all Branch member dinners held across Victoria and Tasmania.
The evenings were all relaxing nights with great company and a good chance for guests to find out what’s happening in other sectors of the transport industry. They were also a valuable opportunity for me to speak with grassroots members directly about what they believe the union is doing well, what we might do differently, where they see the transport industry and the attitude of employers.
This information will help inform our direction, campaigns, priorities, focus and how we communicate with members in 2018 and the years ahead.
On behalf of Assistant Secretary Chris Fennell, who also attended most dinners, and Branch Organisers who got along, I would like to sincerely thank all members and their partners who took up the opportunity to get together. And for those who missed out this year, ask your organiser or delegate for the 2018 dinner dates in the new year.
See you next year!
