The TWU this afternoon was successful in its application to the Fair Work Commission for a protected action ballot against the Qantas/Jetstar Group.
A spokesperson for the national office said the application was lodged after the company refused to compromise in talks for a new enterprise agreement.
In early February, Jetstar members overwhelmingly rejected a national agreement put on the table by Jetstar.
The TWU then attempted to reopen negotiations with the company to ensure the EBA is acceptable to members.
