2020 VISION: SECURING MEMBERS A BETTER FUTURE

March 20, 2018

Ensuring members a safe, secure and better future is central to bold and ambitious plans discussed today by TWU (VIC/TAS Branch) organisers and officials.

The Future Focus meeting, which heard from TWU Federal Secretary Tony Sheldon, discussed the unprecedented industrial, political and community actions being mapped out by the union.

We are making preparations to take a stand against those companies with true economic power.

These companies put their hands in the pockets of workers every day and we are building power to hold them to account.

TWU (Vic/Tas Branch) Secretary John Berger said the union and members are angry and saying ‘no more’ to company razor gangs trying to do things like split shifts and diminish conditions and those at the top of supply chains who allow unsafe rates and take no responsibility for what happens down their supply chains.

“We will force a change to the rules to protect workers and we never back down from a fight. Our plans are big, bold, ambitious, innovative and brave – and winning will not be easy,” John said.

“We need to build power in all of our yards so we can make maximum noise and up-end the status quo so get on board. It is time to fight.

“Watch this space because you will be seeing a lot of action towards 2020 and beyond!”.

Stronger-together.
