June 17, 2014

Over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend (on the 7th of June 2014) the TWU attended a ceremony to open the Victorian Truck Drivers Memorial at Alexandra. A crowd of approx 300 people attended the day. The rain held of just long enough for the ceremony and unveiling.

TWU member Michael Law lit the ceremonial candle. The memorial comes about through the hard work of Bette Phillips from the Creative Ministries Network and the memorial committee. Construction of the memorial was completed by the Alexandra Truck Ute and Rod committee. All time and materials were donated.

The Memory stands in remembrance of Victorian truck drivers who have lost their lives in road accidents.
