Yarra Trams Road Works

September 24, 2013

As part of the modernisation of Melbourne’s tram network, Yarra Trams is carrying out the second stage of this project on Elizabeth Street to upgrade tram tracks and install three new accessible stops.

340 metres of tram tracks will be renewed and the foundations for three pairs of accessible tram stops will be laid between:
Collins and Little Collins streets
Bourke and Little Bourke streets
Little Lonsdale and La Trobe streets

To minimise disruption, Yarra Trams are also taking the opportunity to renew tracks on Elizabeth and Bourke streets that are 60 years old.

Location of track work: Elizabeth and Bourke Streets, Melbourne.

Date/time of track work: From approximately 8pm on Friday 4 October and will continue 24 hours a day until 5am on Thursday 10 October.

Work on the platform stops will continue for several weeks after Thursday 10 October and will require the use of temporary tram stops on Elizabeth Street until the platform stops are complete. Further information about the location of these temporary stops will be provided closer to the time.

A detailed breakdown of the work and work locations can found in this PDF file provided by Yarra Trams. Download the file here.
