FAREWELL COMRADES

August 23, 2019

It is always a day of mixed feelings when long-time staunch members retire from the workforce, we are proud to celebrate their contributions to the fight but sorry to see them go.

And so it was this week when we said goodbye to two rolled gold members at a special BBQ at Calleja Transport.

Charlie Sant has been a TWU member for 34 years and Valentino Lupis joined the TWU 27 years ago and was an Occupational Health & Safety Officer for over two decades.

The road transport industry has undergone many changes over the past 30 years but, thanks to people like Charlie and Valentino holding the line, Union members have been able to retain and improve their working conditions.

The fight has at times been tough but their dedication helped protect jobs and improve wages and health and safety standards over many years.

Thanks for your strength, invaluable contributions and for being powerful advocates for fellow members. Good luck in retirement Charlie and Valentino.
