The TWU (Vic/Tas Branch) has become the first Australian blue-collar union to earn good governance certification AS/NZS ISO9001 from business standard leaders – the BSI Group. BSI are among the most respected and reputable management systems certification bodies in the world and are accredited by around 20 local and international bodies. These include the American National Standards Institute, the Japan Accreditation Board and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.

The endorsement gives a big tick to the Union’s strategic planning, commitment to best practice administration and development and resourcing of member services. The approval means the Union can continue with its core business of maintaining worker’s rights.

The Branch’s register of members and financial records are maintained in accordance with the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 and the Fair.

Work (Registered Organisations) Regulations 2009.

In accordance with Fair Work Good Governance requirements, the Branch appoints an independent auditor to provide reports (see below) on its financial processes and financial statements. The latter are also lodged with the Fair Work Commission and published in the TWU News.
