The TWU today applied to the Fair Work Commission for permission to hold a Protected Action Ballot following another sub-standard MSS Security agreement offer.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. It is time for action. MSS’s offer was nothing short of a slap in the face for TWU members.
To break the stand-off we need to send a clear message to management.
The current MSS offer includes:
X Wage rises not keeping up with inflation
X Removal of paid non-rostered public holidays
X Removal of laundry
X New employees placed on the bare minimum in the Award. This creates an unfair two-tier system at MSS Security and will ignite a race to the bottom throughout the entire Aviation Industry.
In June last year MSS failed to get its previous shocking deal up. That offer included a paltry 1.5% increase and an attempt to introduce unpaid breaks – which would have cost MSS workers at least $4651.40 a year.
Household cost of living increased well over CPI last financial year 2016/2017 and has continued to skyrocket during the current financial year. MSS Guards have not received a pay rise since 1 April 2016.
In August 2016, MSS management walked away from an in-principle agreement.
To be eligible for Protected Industrial Action you must be a member of the TWU. If you are a TWU member you will be protected if you take action. If you are not a member of the TWU you will not be protected if you take action and will be forced to continue working through any protected action.
