Staunch TWU Martyrs bus members were on the picket line from early this morning.
The drivers elected to take the protected industrial action following months of negotiations and after receiving the operators latest sub-standard and insulting wage offer.
The strike – which stopped all Martyrs services – follows other authorised protests taken recently by Victorian bus drivers in 2018 and 2019.
These are the first such industrial actions to hit the Victorian bus industry for two decades and were made in pursuit of the 2018 Victorian Bus Driver Industry Agreement.
The TWU have already successfully secured the 2018 Bus Industry Agreement for over 3000 drivers for operators including CDC, Transdev, Dysons, McHarry’s and Ventura.
