Aviation 2019 – exploitation of labour hire, casualisation and foreign crew have led to a situation where workers are doing the same jobs but receiving wildly different rates of pay.
In fact, TWU (Vic/Tas Branch) Delegate and flight attendant Glenn Barfoot said there can be as many as five different pay levels on any one flight where crew are doing the same job.
He wants casual workers to be treated fairly and given the opportunity to transition into permanent roles.
Last month aviation workers protested at Cairns Airport to send a message to the industry that it must stop the race to the bottom on wages and conditions.
It’s unfair and unsafe and must change – and we will be working to unite all aviation workers as part of our 2020 action plan.
