Brisbane bus driver Manmeet Sharma was killed while on duty last year.

Headlights to spread light on darkness & Manmeet fundraiser

In a show of solidarity and support for slain Brisbane bus driver Manmeet Alisher, TWU (Vic/Tas Branch) bus driver members will join a general industry push for drivers to work throughout Wednesday 2 November with headlights on.

TWU members drove buses today wearing black arm bands for the 29-year-old who was senselessly killed as he sat in his bus seat on Friday morning. His alleged killer has been arrested and is behind bars.

CDC have also encouraged all drivers to wear black armbands on their left arm on Wednesday. A special fund has been created to assist Manmeet’s family, an Indian National, who now must repatriate his remains.

This was an horrific example of the ongoing assaults on bus drivers. The Transport Workers Union continues to campaign for improvements to driver safety. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
